He has therefore warned those who had turned parts of the electoral area into wee-smoking dens to stop forthwith. Mr Sackey said this in a message of appreciation to the electorate for re-electing him.

He said now that the elections were over, the time has come for =93the actual business to promote the development of the area=94. The re-elected assemblyman, who had served the area for the past eight years, admitted that his job was difficult previously because there were no active unit committee in place.

=93I am hopeful that the new unit committee members will assist to speed up the development of the electoral area. The functional unit committee will also give me more time to perform other programmes for the good of the area=94, he said.

Mr Sackey said there were a lot of projects to be undertaken to improve the lives of the people and announced the construction of drainage systems at Atechem as one such project.

Mr Sackey, who narrowly won the election, securing 454 votes as against 423 ballots by his opponent, Isaac Asiedu, called for unity amongst the electorate.

=93I want to stress that the elections are over and that those who are still posting abusive languages to their opponent supporters should put a stop to that=94.

Mr Sackey said insulting a neighbour because of district level election was not developmental and added that what was important was for all to come out with suggestions and contributions that would help improve the development of the electoral area.
