Atwima-Mponua district launches Constitution Week

Bedaabour-Ashanti, May 01, GNA - Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, has advised personnel of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to promote government activities irrespective of their political affiliations. He stressed the need for the NCCE to intensify formation of civic clubs in schools and communities towards the establishment of good governance.

Mr Owusu-Ansah gave the advice at the launching of the Sixth National Constitution Week in the district under the theme, "The Local Participation and Social Auditing" at Bedaabour-Ashanti. The DCE reminded the people to live up to their civic responsibilities, pay their taxes, levies and participate in communal labour to improve their standard of living.

He said Government would continue to give due recognition to the 1992 Constitution to enhance freedom and justice in the country. Mr Emmanuel Duah Atobra, Atwima-Mponua District Director of NCCE, assured the people that the Commission would intensify education on government policies and programmes.

However, he appealed to them to cultivate the habit of communal spirit and pay their taxes regularly.

Nana Bismark Kwabia, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Director of the Commission, advised the people to co-operate with their chiefs, unit committee members and assembly members to undertake development projects.

He advised the people to avoid double registration when the voters' register was re-opened.
