Young Nkrumaist Movement forum calls on the CPP and PNC

Young Nkrumaist Movement forum (YNM) calls on the CPP and PNC leadership to stop paying lip service and UNITE and demand Justice for the Youth.

*YOUNG NKRUMAIST MOVEMENT (YNM)*

*PRESS STATEMENT:*

*EMERGENCY CALL FOR UNITY AMONG ALL NKRUMAIST PARTIES!***

The CPP has shamefully become the breeding grounds for selfish and opportunistic individuals who always sacrifice the good of the party to gain political favours from the NPP and NDC who are both liable for the poor and the malfunctioning state of the present CPP (Unrepentant stooges and apostles of neo-colonialism).

Nkrumaists who are sincere about our party's state would attest to the fact that a total change in direction is needed for electoral success.

While some people believe that the election 2008 is winnable by the CPP, we the YNM do not share their enthusiasms unless the PNC and GCPP are on board.

The new reality on the ground shows that neither the NPP, nor the NDC have the voter capacity to attain a first round victory. The unity of the Nkrumahist Parties would therefore ensure a better chance for securing the needed support for a possible victory.

It is against this background that we the YNM are requesting the new CPP leadership, to initiate talks with the PNC and GCPP NOW!

1) There must be unity between CPP, PNC and GCPP parties devoid of any conditions and none of the abysmal attempts that were made previously, in bringing together the 3 parties.

2) There must be a new policy direction, which will accommodates the views of PNC and GCPP as well as those who are fed up with NPP and NDC. We do not need North and South parties. We want one CPP NOW!!!

3) The CPP should be ready at very short notice to alter the leadership to make way for the new "family" that will come together. The parties involved in the Unity talks should not entertain entrenched positions.

4) The parties should identify their differences and resolve them immediately. We are not interested in marathon talks. The leadership knows why they are apart. They must pick up where they left off and bring the parties together.

5) The Parties should as a matter of urgency, revive the Unity Accords and remove the "me" factor when negotiating, and be prepared to sacrifice their own positions in the interest Osagyefo's words, "in unity lies our strength".

While the Nkrumaists are fighting over symbols and positions, the Ghanaians continue to suffer. Only 5% of our people live beyond 65 years according to (2000 census). At the same time 1.2 million children are engaged in child labour. A huge number of us are living in kiosks and uncompleted buildings and Diasporas can not return to their completed houses.

How long are our so-called Nkrumaist leaders going to sit on the periphery and watch the rich and affluent minority satisfy their selfish and individualistic interests while the underprivileged and down trodden continue to wallow in extreme poverty?

The CPP leadership, we believe, needs no reminding that the lack of unity and existence of multiple Nkrumaist parties competing for the same pool of votes were an obvious and principal drawback to electoral success that reinforced doubts about our ability to undertake the demanding task of government.

We need a strategy and we need it now!!! You are voted into positions to solve our problems and not to divide us. If 17 presidential candidates can unite behind one candidate after their congress, why can't PNC and CPP unite under one umbrella?

No true or realistic Nkrumaist, in our present political climate except those who are under the payroll of our political enemies, will continue to remain disunited.

The YNM demands that, the CPP leadership must start the unity ball rolling now or face a total rejection from the rank and file of the party.

Thank you.
