Yamoah Ponko denies neglecting NDC supporters

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ejisu Juaben in the Ashanti Region, Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, has denied neglecting supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Yamoah Ponko has also denied showing gross disrespect to them when they come to him for assistance and described a purported demonstration against him on Friday as mere propaganda.

Scores of party supporters on Friday staged a demonstration against Mr. Ponko accusing him of neglecting them ever since he was appointed MCE.

They also accused him of not attending party meetings and other related activities.

Reacting to the allegations, Mr. Ponko explained that the job of the MCE is not for only party people but the entire municipality.

He said, aside from managing activities of the Assembly, he has several other assignments of national interest, which he attends and as such may not have time to attend all party activities.

"It does not mean I neglect them," he clarified.

Commenting on the achievements of the NDC government in the region, Mr. Ponko explained that the government has done a lot in the health sector and has also improved security.
