World Cup 2014: Promiscuity in camp caused Black Stars' downfall

A member of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] communication team, Gabby Asummeng, has said that the Black Stars' worst World Cup participation must be blamed on some deviant practices by the management and players.

According to him, the officials which included members of the GFA [Ghana Football Association] and the Youth and Sports Ministry who exhibited immoral behavior caused the team’s downfall.

He also alleged that, some sex scandal which is believed to have hit the Stars’ camp is also a factor to be considered for the abysmal performance of the team.

“Promiscuity in camp caused the team. There was no discipline in camp…both players and officials couldn’t abstain from sex and work for the country?” he questioned.

Speaking on OKAY FM’s afternoon political talk show programme, Ghana Decides, the NDC activist noted that, the Black Stars used “JUJU” [Black Magic] in camp.

“The “JUJU” would have worked if not for that “adwaman honhom” [promiscuous behaviour] from the players and their management,” he opined.

He said it was unfortunate for the government to fly $3m cash to settle the appearance fees of the angry Black Star players who almost boycotted their trip to Brasilia to face Portugal in their final group game.
