Wontumi’s camp fires back at Asiedu Nketia

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a verbal blitzkrieg at the ruling National Democratic Congress in the wake of remarks deemed derogatory which were made by the latter's General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah against one of the former's stalwarts.

Ghana’s Electoral Commission on Monday, July 4, began a nationwide process across 6,000 centers, to register Ghanaians who turned 18 after the 2012 general elections and adults who could not register during the previous registration exercises.

The 10-day exercise however ended on Wednesday.

Some alleged NDC members who were reportedly bused from the Upper East Region to Kumasi in order to partake in the just-ended limited voters registration exercise, were arrested by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, and handed over to the Zongo police for further investigations.

But speaking to Peace FM News in an interview on Wednesday, the NDC Chief Scribe described the claims as "frivolous" and coming from a 'desperate' person who is only concerned about winning power in the 2016 general elections. To him, Mr. Antwi Boasiako needs an urgent psychiatric attention and further added that anyone was indeed caught having travelled from the Northern part of the country to register in the Ashanti Region, they must first be handed over to a psychiatric officer for an evaluation of their thought processes.

“I simply don’t understand why those bused voters would move all the way from Bolga or Bawku to come and register in Ashanti Region. If they are mentally sound, then why would they waste time and money to come and register in Kumasi. I wonder what intend to achieve by registering their names in Kumasi.

“If it is true that this thing happened, then we must hand them over for a brain scan to be conducted. If it isn’t true, then those who claim effected the arrest must also have their heads examined,” General Mosquito said.

However, it appears his comments have not gone down well with the opposition party resulting a rather strong riposte from the camp of Chairman Wontumi.

According to ‘Wontumi’s’ Programmes Manager, Mr. Andy Owusu, the stupidity of Mr. Asiedu Nketia “has once again led him to make those comments."

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Mr. Andy Owusu rolled out understandable stats to prove that between Chairman ‘Wontumi’ and General Mosquito, the latter is stupid.

“Wontumi managed to set up decent job opportunities for over eight thousand (8000) people and you have a political party like NDC led by their General Secretary (Asiedu Nketia) destroying it without any regard about its likely repercussions. Chairman Wontumi was also fetching Ghana more dollars through the work he was doing and the NDC, ably assisted by Asiedu Nketia never sat down to do a proper evaluation before doling out the nation’s hard earned monies to cronies like Woyome, Rockshell and Construction Pioneers.”

“If you should carefully analyze the above scenario, you would clearly fish out the stupidity in Johnson Aseidu Nketia and advice him to seek psychiatric help,” Mr. Owusu said.
