Women can make a difference at the Assemblies - Women’s Organiser

The Eastern Regional Women’s Organizer of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Ms Rosina Cofie, has said participation of more women in the district assembly elections and in the general politics of the country could help promote development and bring some transformational change in the politics of the country.

She told GNA in an interview that women were compassionate about issues and showed more concern towards the search for solutions to challenges facing the society and called on the electorate to vote massively for the few women contesting the district assembly elections.

She said though the competence of the women would be weighed by the electorate, it was her belief that most of the women contesting the elections are already leaders in their communities.

Ms Cofie said women were mostly on the receiving end when society faced problems and appealed to women aspirants to be focused.

She urged people not to stigmatize women in politics but rather encourage them and assist them to compete with their male counterparts.
