President John Dramani Mahama has been urged by the Minority in Parliament to consider a first ministerial reshuffle amid concerns over the continued absence of some ministers from parliamentary sittings.
The appeal follows the failure of the Minister of State in Charge of Public Sector Reforms, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, and the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, to appear before Parliament to answer questions related to their portfolios.
Addressing the House on December 16, 2026, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh voiced his displeasure over the delays, pointing out that several of the questions had remained on the Order Paper for a long time.

“These are questions for the minister responsible for public sector reforms. They have stayed on the Order Paper for quite some time. We need to take them now because we are adjourning on Friday. Otherwise, it will create a problem,” he stated.
He also criticised the absence of the Food and Agriculture Minister, noting that although the minister had formally notified Parliament of his inability to attend, provision should have been made for his deputy to step in.
“Again, the agriculture minister has written to inform us that he cannot be here. He is a very fine person, but his deputy should be present,” Annoh-Dompreh added.
The Minority Chief Whip further argued that members of the Majority who are prepared to work should be given the chance to do so, urging the President to pay attention to the situation in Parliament.
“The President must be watching. The first reshuffle must take place,” he stressed.
