We will retain our “foolish” General Secretary – NPP guru

Despite calls on New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to reject the candidature of Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie as he looks certain to retain his post as General Secretary, it appears the message has fallen on deaf ears.

A former General Secretary for the NPP, Nana Ohene Ntow recently chided his successor Mr. Owusu Afriyie for showcasing bad leadership and being the cause of the party’s defeat in 2012.

According to him, Mr. Owusu Afriyie had only excelled in exhibiting what he described as “impulsive attitude” just to match that of the current General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

But a communication director for the party in Tanfo Pankronu, Mr. Appiah Affum has jumped to the defence of Mr. Owusu Afriyie, claiming on Okay FM that he is prepared to freely give his vote to Mr. Owusu Afriyie.

“As an executive of the party, I want to inform Nana Ohene Ntow that he can throw his weight behind Kwabena Agyepong to unseat Sir John and label him as foolish; but he shouldn't be surprised to see us retain him as our General Secretary. We would retain our foolish General Secretary because we know his capabilities and what he can do to ensure we are back in government”, he said.
