The National Organiser for National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Hamidu Akamba says his party will resist attempts to compile new voters register by the Electoral Commission(EC).

The National Democratic Congress has accused the Electoral Commission of scheming to rig the upcoming 2020 elections in favour of the government with its planned new register.

Speaking to Kwame Tutu on Anopa Nkomo on Accra-based Kingdom 107.7, Joshua Akamba said, the current voters’ register is credible, as it was used to elect President Akufo-Addo. Again, he said it had been used for other previous elections in the country and, therefore, any attempts to change the electoral roll would be rejected.

Joshua Akamba, questioned the need for a new register since the existing one was used for the local assembly elections just two days ago.

Adding his voice to the party’s concerns, National Organiser, Joshua Akamba, argued the political climate currently does not support the EC's quest.

He accused the EC of being biased in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
