Chiefs in the Ahafo Ano South district of the Ashanti Region have suggested President Akufo-Addo to nominate someone with minimum qualification of first degree or equivalence to assume the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) in the area.

The chiefs have therefore reminded the Presidency and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Executives of their earlier petition in that regard.

“We have finally decided that any person selected without our criteria of first degree holder and a native will be rejected” they lamented in a petition signed by Nana Ampofo Twumasi, Secretary to the Ahafo Ano South Association of Chiefs.

NPP youth group in the district have warned fiercely to demonstrate against Mr. Joseph Dapaah, the constituency chairman in the district who has expressed interest in the position.

According to the group, the chairman lacks experience to lead the party as the President’s representative in the district.

The chairman, who openly showed support to the Trade and Industry Minister at the time the party went to congress to choose its flagbearer they claim, is alleged to have made some nasty comments about the current president and therefore they see him as unfit for the post.

The chairman who is tipped by our sources to be on top of the list of other prospective applicants is accused of covering up of issues concerning the party’s finances in the constituency.

Meanwhile, intelligence picked from the constituency has it that both the chiefs and the youth are rooting for one Joseph Bonsu Frimpong.
