We shall not turn our back on you - Overlord of Mamprugu tells Bawumia

Ndugna Nayiri Naa Bohugu Abdulai Sheriga, the Overlord of Mamprugu has pledged support for Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking during Dr. Bawumia's regional campaign tour in Nalerigu, Nayiri expressed confidence in Bawumia's potential to transform Ghana's future as president.

“I am deeply persuaded that you have it in you to carry out the task ahead, you can rise to the challenge and uphold the good name of Ghana, making her greater and stronger,” 3news.com quoted him to have said.

The Mamprugu Overlord who doubles as the President of the North East Regional House of Chiefs, lauded Bawumia's contributions as Vice President, highlighting his impact on both local community development and national progress.

Nayiri assured Bawumia of the community's full backing in his presidential bid, emphasizing their commitment to honour him as a native son by supporting his journey to the highest office.

“As we prepare for this year’s election, the least we can do for you, as the son of the soil, is to honour you with the opportunity to serve at the highest echelon of state power…

"We shall not turn our back on you, especially having demonstrated competence, loyalty, resilience, and importantly, regard for the institution of chieftaincy,” Nayiri affirmed.
