We’ll resign if Afoko is re-instated – E/R NPP

Paul Afoko - embattled NPP Chairman Paul Afoko - embattled NPP Chairman

Some Constituency executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region have threatened to resign if the suspended National Chairman Paul Afoko is re-instated by Court.

Mr. Afoko on Wednesday disclosed his intentions to drag the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to court over his indefinite suspension from the party.

At a press conference organised in Accra, Mr Afoko revealed that he is going to court to seek an interpretation of the party’s constitution vis-à-vis the processes used to suspend him, and also to save the party from being "bastardised" any further.

The National Executive Council (NEC) and the National Council of the party unanimously, and by majority decision, respectively, upheld a recommendation by the disciplinary committee to suspend Mr Afoko indefinitely.

He has been accused of actions and omissions which the party deems injurious to its interest as well as the interest of the flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.

In an interview Starr News, the Yilo Krobo Constituency Vice Chairman of the Party, David Awuku Akakpo stated that all executives in the constituency and other executives in the party will resign from the party if the court reverses the decision by the National Council and re-instates Afoko.

"All of us, from the national (executives) to my village, we will all resign from the party and allow Afoko take the party if he is re-instated," Mr. Akakpo told Starr FM's Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah.
