Vice President Mahama calls on Togbui Sri III

Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - Vice President John Dramani Mahama has paid a courtesy call on the Awoemafia of Anlo, Togbui Sri III, to congratulate him on his installation. Accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, the Vice assured the Anlo King of government’s commitment to securing funds to prevent the rampaging sea waves from destroying more communities within the Keta District.

He informed the Awoemafia that the Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing would be visiting the area to inspect the damage caused by the sea and submit a report to government for action.

Already the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) had been working with the Keta District Assembly to provide temporary relief to persons affected by the disaster in the Vodza, Blekusu and Adina areas.

The Vice President also informed the chiefs and people of Anlo that Keta is among the beneficiaries of the $3.0-billion Chinese loan facility.

A fish-landing site, according to Mr. Mahama, would be constructed and hoped that it would help to boost the business of fishermen in the area.

The Awoemafia congratulated President John Atta Mills for his management of the economy, assuring him that the people of Anlo would continue to support his administration.

He asked the Vice President to ensure that government saved the communities that were being badly hit by the tidal waves.
