Upper West citizens urged to continue to support the NDC

Nator (U/W), April 29, GNA - Mr Cezar Kale, the Deputy Regional Minister has urged citizens of the region to continue to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as it is the only party that understands the plight of the people. He said the party had not only demonstrated this by the number of key Ministerial positions given to people from the region but also by the way o= f the massive infrastructural expansion that the region is currently experiencing. Mr Kale said this while addressing some NDC supporters at Nator in the Nadowli West constituency on Thursday. He commended the people of Nator for their commitment to the NDC since 1992, saying they would certainly be rewarded for their support. He therefore urged the supporters of the party not to be deceived by the promises of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who turned a blind eye to the people of the region for eight years. Mr Kale also advised the people not to listen to people from the NPP who wanted to contest against Mr Alban Bagbin by deceiving them that he had kept too long in Parliament and needed to be changed. "They know what Mr Bagbin and the NDC government have done for you, because of that they have no campaign message than to deceive you that he has kept long in Parliament and should therefore be changed", he said. He said the NDC government within two years of its administration constructed many school blocks, cut sod for the construction of a Regional Hospital and five other Polyclinics, revived the cotton industry and introduced 93Block farming" and the Youth in Agriculture programmes amon= g several development interventions. Mr Kale rejected the claim by those who think the NDC would be divided by Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, the former First Lady's, decision to contest President Mills in the upcoming election of the party's flag bear= er for the 2012 general elections, saying it would rather deepen the party's internal democratic structures. He was however optimistic that President Mills would obviously win the race. Mr Abu Kansangbata, Nadowli District Chief Executive assured the peopl= e that the Assembly would provide them with a youth center, rehabilitate the Small Town Water System, and construct a 6-Unit classroom block and a borehole for the Nator Junior High School.

He said whatever they had promised them would be provided and appealed to them to also continue their unflinching support. Mr Kansangbata explained that Mr Bagbin had acquired a lot of experience in Parliament and had lots of contacts and should therefore be given the mandate again to enable him continue with his plans for the district.
