Two NDC youth clubs

Navrongo, June 9, GNA - Two feuding youth factions of the National Democratic Congress [NDC] in the Navrongo Central constituency could not resolve their differences as to which of them should be recognised as the real youth wing of the party when they met last week. The Youth Wing claims it is the original youth wing of the party in the area while the Youth Club says it worked tirelessly during the 2008 political campaigns to give the party the success it chalked in the area. These claims have raised tension among the party's youth in the area.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Navrongo, the General Secretary for the Youth Club, Mr. Alex Seyara, said members were fighting a just cause and that anybody who attempts to take the club's members for a ride was doing that at a big risk. Mr. Seyara said the Youth Club was supposed to have a percentage in the 30 percent government appointees in the district assembly but that had been denied them by the constituency executives. In a telephone interview with GNA the constituency chairman, Alhaji Baba Alhassan, expressed concern about the unfortunate situation and gave the assurance that the grievances of the two factions would be resolved amicably.

He appealed to the youth to remain united and not to follow some members of the executive whose interests is to do "stomach politics" in order to divide the long existing unity among the NDC family in the area. 09 June
