‘Tweaa’ DCE failed to read gov’t code of ethics - Mahama

Though he was reprimanded by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development for abandoning his speech while addressing some hospital workers in the Ahafo Ano District in the Ashanti Region, Gabriel Barima, the District Chief Executive (DCE), did not read the code of ethics for public officials, according to President John Dramani Mahama.

President Mahama noted that Mr Barima would not have behaved the way he did after he was heckled by a member of the audience if he had gone thoroughly through the code.

President Mahama made this observation on Tuesday, February 25, when he delivered his state-of-the-nation address in Parliament House.

The code of ethics enjoins every public official to display utmost courtesy and decorum when interacting with members of the public.

Mr Barima was seen in a video questioning a remark made while speaking.

The ‘Who said Tweaa’ video went viral on social media.

Mr Barima has since apologized for his action.
