Top NDC Man Defects To NPP

The immediate past Assembly Member for Akromadeokpo Electoral Area in the Ledzokuku Constituency in the Greater Accra region, Mr. Samuel Ayi Tettey has defected from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr Ayi Tettey who was also the Deputy Organizer in the constituency and the current Executive Member of the NDC said his decision to defect from the NDC was due to the fact that the party abandoned him when he was diagnosed with a kidney problem and further given inhuman treatment within his constituency. He said the NDC Executive Members of the Ledzokuku Constituency, of which he was a key figure went round his electorates to vote against him in the recent District Assembly Elections claiming he was terminally ill and incapable of representing the Electoral Area in the Assembly.

Mr Ayi Tettey said he decided to join the NPP because of the selfless, caring and development oriented attitude of the Accra Mayor, Nii Adjiri Blankson.

He said: "Despite the fact that I was one of the people in the Assembly very vocal against the confirmation of Nii Adjiri Blankson as Mayor, he has proved me wrong." He said the Mayor has brought unity to the Assembly and has inspired every member of the Assembly.

The Mayor, according to Ayi Tettey regards every Assembly member as a family member irrespective of gender or political persuasion.

He said at a time when his own party members had abandoned him, Mr. Blankson rushed to his house to convey him to the hospital for medical attention when he was informed of his illness at the cost of 90 million cedis. Mr Blankson also visited him anytime he went on admission at the hospital.

He confessed: "Had it not been the selfless and caring attitude of the Mayor I would have been dead by now, by the the expectations of my own party members."

Mr Tettey apologized to the Mayor and the NPP members as a whole for criticizing and engaging the Mayor in subtle moves to make his administration non-performing. He appealed to his electorate, followers and sympathizers to rally strongly behind Mr. Blankson and the NPP government so as to bring development and progress to the country.

He said: "I have come to realise that Mr. Adjiri Blankson and the NPP are the best that Accra and Ghana can ever have."
