Throwing out independent MPs will come to naught - Sir John

NPP General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has told XYZ NEWS the three independent MPs who have crossed carpet to the NPP will win the December parliamentary elections even if they are evicted from parliament now.

They include Nkawkaw MP Seth Adjei Baah, Bekwai MP Joe Osei Wusu and Bosome Freho MP Edward Ofori Kuragu.

They have been cited for possible eviction after they contested primaries on the ticket of the NPP over the weekend.

Their action contravenes a provision in the constitution which stipulates that an independent MP who wants to contest on a political party’s ticket must first vacate his or her seat.

The three MPs won their seats as independent candidates in 2008 following disagreements in the NPP over their candidature.

Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, told XYZ NEWS the three are back to help the NPP win the December polls.

Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer, Nana Addo is wrapping up the second phase of his Eastern Regional tour in Akwatia on Tuesday. He has been in the region since last week campaigning on his economic transformation agenda and his free Senior High School education policy.

He toured constituencies including Akyem Swedru, Akyem Oda, Ofoasi- Ayirebi, Okere, Upper West Akim and Lower West Akim.
