This government is allergic to shoddy works - Amoako Atta

The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako Atta says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is allergic to shoddy works in all forms.

According to him, government stands resolute to revoke the contract of any contractor who is found engaging in a shoddy work.

Addressing the media in Kumasi ahead of a two day working tour of roads in the Ashanti Region on Monday at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), Mr Amoako Atta said his outfit is conducting value for money audit on all roads being constructed in the country.

This, he noted is to ensure that no contractor does a shoddy work or milk the country dry with valueless work.

‘’The Nana Addo government is allergic to shoddy work and therefore it is determined to audit all roads under construction to meet the value for money as well as quality of work assessment ’’, the Minister posited passionately."

Giving further details, Hon Amoako Atta said government is committed to completing all road projects started in the Ashanti Region.

He noted that the dualization of the Tech Police Station road to Oforikrom was in good course, adding that all other adjoining routes would be asphalted to complete the project.

The Minister announced the commencement of a four new road interchanges in the Greater Kumasi Metropolis.

Suame, Bekwai , Oforikrom and Kumasi Airport roundabouts, the Minister intimated would see the construction of new interchanges to replace the existing normal road.

‘’As we determine to deliver quality to the people of Ghana we are also focused to build up more interchanges in the cities to ease traffic and in Greater Kumasi we plan to build four of such at Bekwai, Oforikrom, Suame and Kumasi Airport roundabouts’’, Mr Amoako Atta disclosed.

Taking the media on a tour, the Minister who was joined by the Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei- Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, NPP regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako as well as the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah visited the Kumasi High Court premises, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Suame.

At the Kumasi High Court premises the team met the Chief Justice (CJ), Mr Anin-Yeboah who was also visiting to inspect the asphalting of the premises.
