Tema West Independent aspiring MP launches campaign

Tema, Nov 15, GNA - Mr Justice Awortwe Edwards, 39-year-old Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the Tema West, on Sunday launched his campaign and promised his constituents of well-planned development.

He said since the First and Second Republics the area had not seen development even though the New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Mr Abraham Ossei Aidoo had been in office for eight years.

"The gutters are chocked, sanitation is very poor, the Aggrey Road School that I attended had canteen sheds but now everything is fallen apart", he said.

Mr Edwards, a Technician, mentioned quality education, continuous clean-up exercises to improve sanitation, training of the youth in vocations and seeking the welfare of nurses, doctors and paramedic among other things as his priority.

When given the mandate, he said, he would set up an education fund for needy but brilliant students as well as medical staff and ensure that the unemployed youth gained jobs.

He said he would form a Council of Elders involving assembly and unit committee members to mobilise the masses for development and run a transparent administration to avoid mistrust.

Mr Edwards, therefore, urged the people to vote massively for him to unseat Mr Aidoo.
