Tema East NPP elects officers to replace expelled compatriots

Tema, Nov. 19, GNA 96 The Tema East Constituency of the NPP at its delegate's congress on Saturday elected unanimously elected Mr Yaw Anim-Addo and Mr Seth Opare, as chairman and Secretary, respectively, to replace two former executives who were expelled for misconduct. They expelled officers are Mr Ken Obeng-Fosu and Mr Charles Boateng, former chairman and secretary respectively who were removed from office after a vote of no confidence was passed on them. Mr Foster Bortey was also elected as first vice chairman to replace Mr Kofi Brako, a businessman who resigned on personal grounds. Sixty-eight delegates out of a total of 114 polling station chairpersons voted.

The two former executives whose seat had remained vacant since July 2006 were alleged of doing acts that had the tendency to disintegrate the Party. They were also accused of disorganising meetings being held to deliberate on vital issues.

Mr Anim-Addo, once a constituency chairman, thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in them and called for co-operation from members to lead the Party to victory in 2008. He pledged to work in conformity with the Party's constitution to ensure peace and progress.

Mr Ishmael Ashitey, Member of Parliament for the area, called on the Party's activists to bury their differences and unite with a common purpose.
