Take advantage of re-opening of Voters' Register

Gomoa Benso (C/R), Feb. 8, GNA- Mr Richmond Sam Quarm, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa East, at the weekend advised his constituents who have not registered, to do so when the Voters register is re-opened in May. This, he said, would enable them to exercise their franchise in the forthcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Elections slated for December.

Speaking at the Annual Akwanbo Festival of the chiefs and people of Gomoa Benso near Agona Swedru, Mr Quarm reminded the people of the essence of a registration exercise, and said apart from voting, it was also meant to plan for the communities to benefit from development projects. He, therefore, urged people in the area to ensure that their names were found in the voters' register when it is re-opened. The MP stressed the need for the youth in the area to engage themselves in productive ventures that would help improve their standards of living.

Nana Adjoa Aduokuwa, Queen-mother of the town asked the citizens to honour their development levies to ensure the prompt completion of projects embarked upon. She advised the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme to enable them to have easy access to health delivery. The Queen-mother urged the youth to guard against pre-marital sex in order to avoid contracting the deadly HIV/AIDS pandemic. Mr Samuel K Mensah, Akwanbo Planning Committee Chairman of the town, disclosed that a Computer Laboratory Project was underway to enable students in the area to become computer-literates.
