Sunyani MCE picks nomination forms

Mr. Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), on Thursday picked nomination forms to contest for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary primary in the Sunyani East Constituency slated for November.

Prior to picking the forms at the constituency office at Sunyani New Town, Mr Oppong-Ababio, dressed in all-white linen attire, stood in a brand new white-coloured Nissan pick-up vehicle to parade through some of the principal streets of Sunyani in the company of his supporters, amidst brass band music to announce his intention to wrestle the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing the supporters and sympathizers after picking the forms, Mr Oppong-Ababio expressed joy that the euphoria was a sign of imminent victory for the NDC for the first time since 1996.

He stressed the need for his supporters to be civil in campaigning for him, emphasizing that love, unity, the fear of God, truth and honesty must guide them in the process.

Mr Oppong-Ababio, therefore, appealed for total avoidance of adversarial and mud-slinging campaign against other aspirants contesting with him, because that trajectory could rather affect the fortunes of the Party.

This, he explained was because, in the unlikely event of his defeat “we have to join the winner’s team as one family to campaign for victory in both the Parliamentary and the Presidential elections”.
