Slogans not a guarantee for winning - Activists told

Kumasi, Sept. 26, GNA - Mr. Thomas Atigah, Peoples National Convention (PNC) parliamentary candidate for Asawasi, in the Ashanti Region, has reminded party members and activists that the chanting of slogans and wearing of party "T" shirts as well as pasting of posters alone, were not a guarantee for winning elections.

He said slogans would make a more effective impact and pave way for victory in elections only when members back them up with active campaign initiatives at all levels.

Mr. Atigah gave the reminder at a meeting of the Asawasi PNC constituency, ward and branch executives in Kumasi on Saturday, also attended by the party's Agents from the 107 polling stations in the constituency.

The meeting was to express the candidate's gratitude to the members for electing him and to discuss and map out effective campaign strategies that would help the PNC to win the December polls.

He entreated members of the party to adopt innovative strategies in their campaign, including personal contacts and house-to-house initiatives to propagate the message of the PNC rather than merely concentrating on slogans and posters.

Mr. Atigah announced that as part of measures to ensure that the Party won the elections, he had set up a campaign team at the constituency, ward and Branch levels and advised PNC members and activists to be tolerant of their opponents views and to use decent language during their campaign.
