Second Term Is Not Automatic – Lawyer Adwoa Safo

The New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate for the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Lawyer Adwoa Safo has advised Ghanaians not be swayed by calls by NDC propagandist to give President Atta Mills, a second term in office. According to her, in the face of imminent defeat in the up-coming December 7, propagandists of the Mills/Mahama led NDC government have for some time now been trying to deceive Ghanaians to vote for President Mills and the NDC, on the basis that President Jerry Rawlings and President Kufuor both served for two four year terms.
She explained that as per the constitution, a person is voted to the presidency for a term of four years. At the end of that period, he/she accounts for their stewardship to the people of Ghana. “If we are content with what President Mills has done in his first four years; if we are convinced that President Mills, with all the revenue flowing onto the country, including that from oil, has adequately built on the legacy of President Kufuor, then lets give him another four years”, she said.
Adwoa Safo, daughter of the leader of Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadjo Safo, stated that President Mills will have to justify the confidence reposed in him during his first term before he can dream of another term. “He has to prove to us that he has successfully built on what he came to meet, before we can consider his application”, she said.
She accused President Mills of failing to build on the strong economy left behind by his predecessor, President Kufuor. She reminded Ghanaians of how President Kufuor led an able and competent team to steer the country from a Highly Indebted Poor Country (HIPC) to a respected Middle –Income Nation.
Lawyer Adjoa Safo made these comments when she appeared on Multi TV’s current affairs programme, Minority Caucus, to shed light on the NPP-recently-held-Gargantuan-Rally which she hosted in her constituency, Dome-Kwabenya. The rally brought together NPP big wigs including the party’s Presidential candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia

LAWYER ADWOA SAFO ADDRESSING THE TEAMING NPP SUPPORTERS
Lawyer Adwoa Safo pointed to the numerous social intervention measures initiated by the Kufuor administration including the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), and Free Maternal Health Care among others. “Today, President Mills has presided over the collapse of all these social baskets so I wonder what he will be basing his call for another term on, she queried.
The NPP Dome-Kwabenya Parliamentary candidate chided President Mills for failing to initiate any bold policy which will significantly enhance the livelihood of the poor masses. She wondered how in the face of these hard times, a President who cares for us would prioritise the payment of judgment debts to friend and financiers, over free maternal care?
Lawyer Adwoa Safo advised Ghanaians to critically analyze the performance of President Mills and his appointees before deciding on whom to lead them for the next four years. “Apart from President Rawlings, he is the only person to have occupied the high office of Vice President before assuming the presidency. That is why he promised to hit the ground running but from what we are seeing now, he is struggling to crawl, she said.
Lawyer Adwoa Safo urged the good people of Ghana to vote massively for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP, for free basic education to secondary level, and a revolutionalized economy.
