Say no to Mahama second term – Mrs. Akufo-Addo

Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the wife of the standard bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has warned Ghanaians that the country’s fortunes will continue to deteriorate if the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is maintained after the November 7 polls.

She has therefore called on the Ghanaian electorate to ignore President John Mahama’s pleas for a second term, stressing, “President Mahama’s administration does not deserve another term in office.”

Mrs Akufo-Addo said President Mahama and the NDC government had done little to improve the lives of Ghanaians and indicated that there was a general call for change in the country.

“The NDC has collapsed all the social intervention policies John Kufuor rolled out, including free maternal health care, the National Health Insurance Scheme and the National Youth Employment Programme among others,” she pointed out.

Mrs Akufo-Addo was addressing hundreds of NPP supporters, mainly women, at Agona-Nkwanta, the capital of the Ahanta West Constituency of the Western Region, as part of her day’s visit to the region.

Prior to meeting the enthusiastic NPP women at the Agona-Nkwanta main market, Mrs Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on Nana Kwesi Agyeman, Omanhene of Dixcove Traditional Area, who is also the Acting President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs.

She also called on the paramount chief of Upper Dixcove, also in the district, where the chief, Nana Hima Dekyi, told her that the history of the area had it that political parties that first visited the palace in their campaigns never lost elections.

He was very optimistic that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would be the next president after the general election.

Addressing the Agona-Nkwanta market women later, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo noted that the 2016 general election was a critical one in determining the future direction of the country and the wellbeing of Ghanaians.

She observed that unemployment, especially among the youth, was widespread and was hopeful that the situation would be reversed if the NPP was given the nod in the November polls.

She pointed out that the cost of utilities, particularly electricity, had brought untold hardship to the people, adding, “So let us all arise for change.”

“Please support my husband and vote massively for him and the NPP to help lift Ghana from the despondent state she finds herself under the current NDC regime,” she told the women.

From Agona-Nkwanta, Mrs Akufo-Addo also visited the Shama and the Wassa East constituencies of the region, where she interacted with women from all walks of life and urged them not to lose hope but vote for the NPP to turn things for the better in the country.
