‘Sanction Hoezame’ - NPP MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower West Akim, Gifty Klenam has called for disciplinary action to be taken against the former chairman of the Central Tongu constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), David Hoezame.

Mr. Hoezame recently sued the party, challenging the composition of the NPP’s National Council, the highest decision-making body after Congress.

The case was however thrown out by an Accra High Court.

But even before the party could settle down after the recent election of regional representatives to the council, the man is back in court again with an amended writ, contesting the election of the regional representatives.

He is therefore praying an Accra High Court to declare the election of the regional representatives null and void for fresh elections to be held.

But the MP noted that Hoezame’s actions contravene the NPP’s constitution since he failed to use the party structures to address his concerns.

“Disciplinary action should be taken; the Disciplinary Committee should call him to order,” Hon Klenam noted angrily.

“He has breached the party’s constitution because the constitution says that you should let the structures address every issue; you cannot just get up and go to court,” she told Daily Guide.

Hon Klenam was of the view that Hoezame’s continuous disrespect for the party’s constitution could affect its planned events, adding, “I think it is becoming too much; the party structure is there and I suppose that the way he is criticizing every now and then, he should rather learn to do the right thing.

“Once he has gone to court without using the structure, I’m calling on the leadership of the party to call him to order so that the issue can be addressed at home and if it is beyond them, he can take it to court.”
