Salaga North MP gives account of stewardship

Alhaji Mumuni Alhassan, MP for Salaga North Constituency, has met the members of his constituency and given account of his stewardship since he entered into Parliament in 2013.

He said the meeting dubbed “People Forum”, was part of efforts to deepen and increase citizen interest and participation in governance and further promote accountability as a public office holder.

Alhaji Alhassan said the platform was used to highlight his achievements in the two years of serving the people as their Member of Parliament, saying he has executed a number of projects and programmes in various sectors of the economy.

Speaking to journalists at the Parliament House in Accra, the Salaga North Legislator said his office, in collaboration with the East Gonja District in the Northern Region, organized the first Educational Forum for the area.

At this meeting, he said, the issue of lack of teacher’s motivation, teachers/pupils absenteeism, staff and classroom accommodation, ineffective supervision were discussed.

Alhaji Alhassan said a number of communities have since 2013 benefited from various school projects in the constituency.

He said the projects are a three- unit classroom block each in the Tunga, Zankum, Kpandu and Vogyili, as well as a six-unit classroom block each at Dakpemyili and Kpanshegu, which are on-going.

He said in line with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s agenda of a free Senior High School, the Salaga North would soon benefit from the second phase of Community Day School.

The MP informed his people that since the inception of the NDC government flagship National Electrification Programme,-the Self Help Electrification programme, Nyamaliga, Fuu, Gbung, Kpalbe, Kpalbusi, Jindanturu, Bunjal, Kabache No 1, Kabache N0 2, Dashe, Baboashe, Kpadu and Wulanyili communities have been connected to the national grid.

Also, Kpanshe, Nymaliga Nyapala, Takpili, Libi, Chanayili, Jinlo, Yapal Vogyili, Sakpalua, Kpinchila, Tungu, Kpalayili, Kanakulai, Latinkpa, Kidenge communities would soon benefit from the next phase.

He said over 150 streetlight lamps have been procured from his MP share of the Common Fund to be mounted in communities that have been connected to the national grid.

This, he noted, would go a long way to ward-off criminals in the night.

On health, Alhaji Alhassan said he has provided a two new Community Health Post Service (CHPS) compounds for the Kpanshegu and Kpinchila communities and their environs, adding that, two new ones would soon be constructed for the people of Latinkpa and Nyenshela communities.

He said he also presented a tricycle to be used as a rural ambulance for the Kpanshegu CHPS compound as well as a double- decker Nissan Pickup to the Kpalbe Health Centre to help facilitate referral cases.

Alhaji Alhassan said plans are afoot to upgrade the Kalbe Health Centre into a Polyclinic, in order to attract the requisite professionals to deliver quality health service to his constituents.

The MP said the Presby Mile 7 Project was partnering the East Gonja District Assembly to provide a rice processing plant in the Salaga North Constituency at Baboashe, near Jantong.
