Founding member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Amoako Tuffuor has downplayed fears over the profiling of staff of STL by the three former South African police officers arrested in Ghana.

According to him, there is nothing sinister with the trio being in possession of documents of staff of the IT firm contracted by Ghana’s Electoral Commission.

The trio were arrested at the El Capitano Hotel in Agona Dunkwa for allegedly training 15 young men in various security drill and rapid response maneuvers, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and were allegedly brought into Ghana by one Capt Koda, who is the head of security of opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo.

They are 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.).

Speaking to Emmanuel Kwaku Obeng Adjei on the Starr Midday News, Dr. Tuffuor who admitted that the NPP brought the suspects to Ghana said they are here on a legitimate mission.

“Why should anyone be worried that they have documents of the STL staff? Is the STL a political party or they are just supposed to provide computer services for the EC? There is nothing wrong with them having documents of the STL. I believe it is the responsibility of the security agencies to probe this matter so we all know what it entails,” he stated.
