Obuasi (ASH), Aug. 10, GNA - A total of 70 National Service personnel, who completed a year service with AngloGold Ashanti at Obuasi Mine, have been advised to maintain and develop the good working attitudes and values they learnt at the mine in their future working environment.

Mr Y. B. Amponsah, the General Manager of the Mine in-charge of Human Resource, who gave the advice at a reception organised in their honour at Obuasi, said the Service personnel had an opportunity to do their service in a multi-national company and that it was essential they picked the good work ethics and values associated with the company and develop on them for their future good.

The Service personnel served at the various departments at the mine during the one-year period.

Mr Amponsah reminded them that, what AngloGold Ashanti had offered them in terms of practical knowledge and skills was complementary to their education and that they had to place value on it to enable them have an enjoyable future life. "What AngloGold Ashanti offered you were the beginning to the future of most of you", he stressed.

The General Manager advised the Service personnel to have passion for good things in life and they should also aim at growth and development, since quality of life meant progression in life. Mr Amponsah expressed appreciation for the service rendered by the personnel, stressing that "AngloGold Ashanti is a big family and you had become permanent members of the family". Mr John Sarpong-Boateng, the Public Relations Officer of AngloGold Ashanti (Obuasi Mine), said he was expecting the Service personnel to be good ambassadors of the company.

According to him, the Service personnel had worked for a year on the mine and therefore knew some of the challenges facing the company, especially the negative effects of illegal mining activities and that they should be in a position to defend the company wherever they would find themselves. Some of the personnel including Mr Amadi Boakye, who worked with the public relations, shared their experiences, saying, "It was a great experience that would spur them to move further in their chosen career".
