Public officials urged to serve citizens well

Volta Regional Minister, Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo, has urged public officials entrusted with the responsibility to serve the citizenry, to “go to the extreme to give the people maximum comfort.”

“We are doing our best as Ministers sometimes going against ourselves. We as young Ministers will do our best. There is nobody who is perfect.”

Nii Afotey-Agbo made the remarks when he commissioned a GH?690,000 regional office complex for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in Ho on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.

Nii Afotey-Agbo urged young people, who are given the opportunity to serve the people in high offices, to give their best in challenging situations and not become “pins in their heads. Let’s be humble the higher we go up,” he added.

Nii Afotey-Agbo, therefore, urged public office holders to be mindful of the character traits they exhibited because being “bossy and arrogant will take us nowhere.”

He urged those serving in the health sector to recognize the sensitive nature of their calling, and strive to give quality care to the people.

He said their hearts rather than their salary should dictate the quality of service they rendered to the people.

“The horse which pulls the load does not go hungry rather more good things will come your way,” he said.
