Prez Mahama, NDC firmly behind E.T. Mensah - Ade Coker

The Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described as deceitful, rumours that President Mahama has thrown his weight behind the National Democratic Party (NDP) parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram.

The rumours are said to have been ignited by the defeated parliamentary aspirant for the area, Mr. Michael Kwetey Tetteh who lost to Mr. E.T. Mensah. Mr. Tetteh subsequently joined the newly formed the NDP to register his displeasure at what he felt was an unfair treatment. He is currently campaigning to unseat Mr. E.T. Mensah on the ticket of the NDP.

He is said to be spreading rumours that the long-serving MP and the Minister for Water Recourses, Works and Housing has fallen out with the NDC executives as well as the President Mahama.

But in a release, the Mr. Ade Coker denied the rumours stressing that they are mere “politics of deceit.”

He said “even more serious is Mr Tetteh’s decision to engage in politicking of deceit and misrepresentation. His campaign message that his actions have been endorsed by the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC and the President of the Republic of Ghana are to say the least untruths.”

The party went on to state that “H.E. John Dramani Mahama and Hon. Enoch Teye Mensah and Hon. Ade Coker have no knowledge of the actions of Mr Michael Kwetey Tetteh and wish to condemn his actions which frown on the letter and spirit of the NDC Constitution."

Mr. Coker noted that the “necessary official communication regarding Mr Michael Kwetey Tetteh’s position within the NDC have been communicated to him in consonance with the NDC Constitution.”

Mr. Ade Coker assured the residents of the area of the NDC’s support for the Hon. E.T Mensah saying “no amount of distortion of the truth would derail the victory of the NDC in the December polls.”

He therefore admonished the NPP and its operatives as well as the NDP and Mr Michael Kwetey Tetteh to desist from the politics of deceit and misrepresentation.
