President Kufour to launch campaign

Kumasi, Sept. 4, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufour would be joined by scores of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Sunday, September 7, as he launches his personal campaign at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti, to boost the chances of the party in the December elections.

Confirming this to the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday, Mr Robert Yaw Amankwaa, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, said as a result of this a mammoth rally would be held at Abuakwa, during which party leaders are expected to address the gathering. He said the speeches to be delivered by the party leaders would centre on the NPP's achievements in all fields of the nation's economy as well as their vision and plans for the nation if given the mandate in the December polls.

Mr Amankwaa said the choice of the Atwima-Nwabiagya District as the venue for the launch was very significant in view of the fact that the President had his first opportunity to represent the party in parliament as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the area in the 1970's. He urged supporters of the party to troop to the rally grounds in their numbers on Sunday to support the campaign and urged them to comport themselves to ensure a successful programme.
