Mr. Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister has entreated the youth to cultivate quality learning and morals, as part of their preparation to assume leadership positions in future.

He said government has put in place the necessary infrastructure to ensure that every Ghanaian child received the best of education and training in the transformation process.

The Minister was speaking at this year's regional Independence Day celebration, which sought to give priority to youth development in Takoradi.

The colourful ceremony was attended by school children, the security agencies with market women and the twin-city special school putting up a spectacular March performance to catch the eyes of all.

He stated that education was the best legacy to improve the socio-economic conditions of Ghanaians; hence government’s investments in ongoing projects in the Region to boost access to education.

He therefore called on Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) and school management committees to work hard in instilling the right virtues in the youth.

On election 2016, the Regional Minister drummed home the need to maintain a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the elections, adding, “let all of us refrain from acts that can mar the elections and the peace we have now.”

He also cautioned the Ghanaian Media and called for the utmost circumspection by Media houses in their role in educating the public in the forthcoming election. The Regional Minister also mentioned the need for the country to take responsibility of the environment and work at maintaining it through proper care.

Some students who excelled in the 2015 WASSCE and BECE were rewarded with certificates and undisclosed amounts.

He also noted the need for effective governance through the creation of additional regions.
