Prempeh files nomination papers to contest Manhyia seat

Kumasi, April 2, GNA - Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a medical practitioner, has filed his nomination papers to contest the Manhyia parliamentary seat on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Kumasi.

Dr Opoku Prempeh was accompanied by his teeming party supporters who chanted, drummed and sang patriotic songs to the Manhyia constituency office of the NPP at Subin Valley.

The nomination papers were received by Mr Osei Mensah, the Constituency Chairman, who advised the media to be circumspect in their reportage on the candidates vying for the Manhyia seat.

He said politics of insults will not be in anyone's interest, noting that clandestine moves to damage the candidates will not also help the Party.

Mr Mensah said the primaries will come off in May, adding that, "let us think of Manhyia and its development while at the same time advise the delegates to vote according to their conscience to elect a candidate for the December elections which is crucial for the NPP". Dr Opoku Prempeh, a graduate of the School of Medical Sciences (SMS) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), said, "win or lose, I will accept the verdict of the primaries with all humility".
