Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the newly elected parliamentary candidate for the Offoase Ayirebi constituency on the ticket of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stated that uniting the party ahead of the 2016 polls is the big task ahead for him.

"The big job now is to unite the party in the constituency and to work together in pursuance of retaining the seat in 2016, that is the main objective," he told Joy FM super morning show host, Kojo Yankson.

Whiles admitting that he has had an exhaustive and exhausting campaign to represent the party in the constituency, Kojo contends that work must start in earnest to retain the seat that was vacated by the current MP, David Oppon-Kusi.

He is upbeat that his other competitors in last Saturday's race would come onboard after each has had enough rest from the exertions of the campaign and election, thereafter, together there would be meetings to outline respective roles going into 2016.

Addressing issues surrounding his days as a political show host, Oppong Nkrumah likened it to a doctor having to remain professional in a consulting room irrespective of who the patient is.

"You don’t go to the hospital and have the doctor come to the waiting room and say all NPP people come for treatment; when you are a professional doing your job, you may have your biases but don't let it influence your professionalism," he stated.

"There were times that my own party the NPP thought I was being too hard on the party. All of us can do our job professionally regardless of our biases," he added. He also refuted reports that his car got damaged; "my car is not damaged, my car is fine," he clarified.

On the current MP, he revealed that; as political leader of the party for the last 12 years, Hon. Oppon-Kusi had done a lot for this constituency but a lot more was there to be done, his (current MP's) experience and direction would be sought as he hands the baton over hopefully after the 2016 elections, Kojo added.
