A five-seater toilet facility constructed by a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Adentan Constituency, Akosua Manu, for residents of Adjiringanor has been demolished just a day after its commissioning.
According to reports, the demolition was carried out by some members of the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) for reasons that remain unknown.
Viral pictures circulating on social media show that the wall surrounding the facility has been brought down by those responsible for the demolition.
The facility was built to address pressing sanitation needs in the community.
Akosua Manu explained that the structure was intended to improve hygiene and public health in an area that has long struggled with access to proper sanitation infrastructure. She has, however, condemned the demolition.
“I am deeply dismayed and saddened by the sudden demolition of a newly commissioned toilet facility meant to serve the good people of Adjiringanor,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
