PPP holds Volta Regional confab Saturday

The Volta regional branch of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has scheduled its regional conference to elect regional executives on Saturday, 14th February, 2015.

The event—which is expected to be witnessed by high-profile top officials of the party—is set to take place at the Catholic Secretariat in Ho at 10:00 AM.

This was stated in a statement issued yesterday in Accra and signed by the PPP’s Elections Committee Secretary, Richard Nii Armah

According to statement, all card-bearing members of the party who are in good standing would be eligible to vote in the upcoming regional elections.

The various positions to be contested, according to the statement, are chairperson, vice chairperson, secretary, assistant secretary treasurer and organizer.

Others are assistant organiser, women’s organiser and assistant women’s organiser The rest are youth organiser, assistant youth organiser and education secretary.

The Volta regional election, the statement said, would be the 7th region to conduct its regional elections after Central, Eastern, Upper East, Brong- Ahafo, Upper West, and Northern regions.

The PPP in the statement stressed that it was poised to re-energise and entrench its dominance in the political landscape of the country.

The PPP, the statement added, would not be third in 2016 elections, but win more seats to form a considerable majority in Parliament.

“The party has not been happy with the level of ineptitude with impunity displayed by parastatals in recent times. Evidence of this ineptitude on the part of government officials is the current “dumsor, dumsor” we are experiencing all over the country,” the statement pointed out.

According to the PPP, it is seeking for power to use government resources to solve the little problems confronting the nation which the Mahama-led administration has failed to do.

“The PPP being the second biggest opposition, wishes to overtake the NPP and NDC and become the problem-solving government that will help Ghanaians live the life they deserve,” the statement affirmed.
