PPP Takes Campaign To The Upper West

The PPP will take its campaign for the 2012 parliamentary and presidential elections to the Upper West Region for three days beginning on Sunday 1st September and ending on Tuesday 3rd September. The campaign team will be led by the party’s Flagbearer Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom. He will be accompanied by the National Vice Chairman I.B.M. Seidu, National Treasurer Felix Ograh, National Communications Team Member Samuel Amoako, Upper West Regional Executives and Parliamentary Candidates. A Team led by the National Chairman Mr. Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond will be in the Greater Accra Region and another led by a Vice Chairperson Mrs. Mary Ankomah Boakye-Boateng will focus attention on the Western Region.

The Team in the Upper West Region will visit polling station executives and members in Tumu, Lawra, Lambussie, Nadowli, Wecchau and Wa. In Wa, the Team will meet market women and business groups. In addition, courtesy calls to the Imam and the Bishop of Wa will feature in the schedule.

Dr. Nduom will educate polling station executives about loyalty to the PPP and their role and responsibility. He will spell out what the Ghanaian private sector can expect from the PPP. The PPP’s quality education policy including free, compulsory and continuous education from kindergarten to Senior High School will be explained.

Dr. Nduom will continue to make the call for call made by the PPP’s Presidential Candidate Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom for transparency and accountability. He will repeat the challenge he has thrown to President Mahama and Mr. Akufo-Addo:
- Introduce amendments to the 1992 Constitution that will make three critical changes for progress in Ghana:
1) prohibit Members of Parliament from being appointed as Minsters of State,
2) return the power to the people for all Ghanaians to directly elect their district, municipal and metropolitan chief executives without any interference from the President and 3) strengthen the office of District Attorney by separating it from the Ministry of Justice;
- Make available to the public asset declarations, income tax returns, health records and sources of campaign funding before the December 7th elections; and

- Conduct a campaign to prove competence and ability to offer solutions to the nation’s numerous problems.

This will not be a general public campaign trip as the focus is how to motivate the PPP’s polling station executives to work hard to win votes for the party on 7th December.
