PNC constituency executives against removal of reg. sec.

Kumasi, May 25, GNA - The chairmen, secretaries and executive members from 32 constituencies of the People's National Convention (PNC) in the Ashanti Region have called for the immediate and unconditional reinstatement of Mr Thomas T. Atigah as the Regional Secretary of the party.

They said they still support and would recognise Mr Atigah as their Regional Secretary and warned that they together with the rank and file of the party in their constituencies would advise themselves if the leadership failed to recall him.

In a resolution adopted at the end of their meeting in Kumasi last Saturday, the executives said the dismissal of Mr Atigah from the party smacked of selective justice.

They blamed the leadership of the party at the national, regional and constituency levels for the abysmal performance of the party in the recent by-elections at the Asawase constituency.

The executive stated that the imposition of Mr Ibrahim Issaka and his performance should serve as an eye opener to the leadership of the party so that they would always place premium on loyalty and committed members instead of sycophants and opportunists.

They also expressed their support for the Nkrumaist family and said they support the adoption of the name CPP, the coconut tree as the symbol, "forward ever in honest service" as the motto and "Eye Kube" as the slogan for the proposed party.

The executives called on the various groups to speed up the negotiations to bring the Nkrumaist members together to ensure a resounding victory in the 2008 elections.
