PNC Constituency Chairmen meet in Koforidua

The Eastern Regional executive members and all 33 constituency chairmen of the People’s National Convention (PNC) in the Region have held a crunch meeting, as part of efforts to restructure the Party’s programmes towards the 2016 general elections.

The gathering which was graced by Alhaji Mohammed Ramadan, the National Chairman of the Party, as well as David Apasara, the National Treasurer, Mohammed Atik, the Party’s Policy Analyst, and Mr Mark Ackom, an aspiring National Youth Leader of the Party, saw the executives share ideas to excel in 2016.

Welcoming the gathering, Alhaji Imoro Issaka, the Eastern Regional PNC Chairman, advised the constituency chairmen and their representatives not to sacrifice their welfare for mere political rhetoric, but rather consider the interest of the ordinary citizens in their respective constituencies.

He stressed that constituency chairmen who because of money pushed delegates to vote for wrong people whose only agenda was to sell out the PNC for their selfish interest, should stop.

Mr Apasara, who is now aspiring for the National Chairmanship position, urged the chairmen to give him their mandate to restore the respect of elders and discipline among the rank and file of the party.

He said it was only the PNC that had the solution to the present economic crisis facing the nation, which is being mismanaged by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr Apasara advised the constituency chairmen to appeal to their delegates to vote for credible people and not people who would come in to mortgage the party and make it a laughing stock.

Alhaji Ramadan praised both Alhaji Imoro and Ustaz Yakubu, the Regional Secretary, for keeping the PNC alive in the Eastern Region, in spite of difficulties.

He cautioned that constituency chairmen not to allow themselves to be manipulated to vote for persons who were not committed to the progress of the Party.

Alhaji Ramadan disclosed that he was no longer interested in re-contesting in the next congress and advised delegates to elect national leaders who were more diligent and dedicated to the party to enhance the electoral fortunes of the party in 2016.

He appealed for a clean and incident-free contest, to help the PNC maintain unity as it used to be in the party before the 2012 congress.
