The Electoral Commission has stated that the outcome of the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections is a testament and affirmation that the commission's processes and systems worked.
The Chairperson for the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, noted that during a press conference on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, the commission received loud applause from both local and international observers.
The press conference organized by the Electoral Commission was to reconvene and rekindle the spirit of cooperation as the commission seeks to chart future elections in Ghana.
In her address, the chairperson of the Commission, Jean Mensa said, "Since the elections of 2024, we have not had the opportunity to meet. So we thought it was important to re-gather, to reconvene, and to rekindle the spirit of cooperation as we chart the way forward for the future elections in this country. I'm sure you all agree with me that the outcome of the 2024 general elections is a confirmation and an affirmation that our processes and our systems work."
The Chairperson further added that the responses from both the local and international observers all point to the fact that the electoral commission had put in place a robust system that saw to the conduct of an incredible election.
She said, "Indeed, observers, both local and international, have indicated that the elections of 2024 have been the best in the history of the Fourth Republic. As I noted earlier, our purpose here is not to undertake an immediate examination or review of the elections. We are well aware that the political parties are undertaking their own reviews, and so are we."
