Opposition Group Not Popular

A research conducted by the Grand Coalition to assess its strength in the forthcoming elections presents the coalition parties as abysmally weak at the grass. They indicated that in the Brong Ahafo region, for instance, EGLE is virtually non-existent, while the PNC which is deemed as the only party alive in the coalition is also inactive. Meanwhile, the GCPP is not visible at all.

The deputy general-secretary in charge of administration of the EGLE party, Mr. John Alagba observed that because the leaders of the coalition were little known, they would need to move to the regions, particularly the Brong Ahafo and do a lot of ground work. Mr. Alagba, who said Mr. Danny Ofori Atta, running mate to Dr. Edward Mahama, the coalition?s presidential candidate, had tasked him to do the research work and fish out parliamentary candidate, to represent the coalition and EGLE in particular, said his findings indicated that the people in the areas surveyed in the region had embraced the idea of uniting the fragmented Nkrumaist parties.

According to him, the people at the grassroots were only concerned about the late inception of the coalition and lack of education enough to sensitise the electorate on the need for such a partnership. Mr. Alagba therefore urged that they begin their campaign in full swing to electrify the awareness of those in the districts in particular, especially as they had gained some measure of popularity in the regional capital.
