Opei Abbey wins Awutu-Senya primary

Kasoa (C/R) May 9, GNA- Mr. Opei Abbey, incumbent Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya was Thursday re-elected as the parliamentary candidate to content

on the ticket of the NPP in the 2008 election in the area. He polled 69 votes to beat three other contestants, Mr. Patrick Kweku Amponsem who had 19 votes, Mr. Atto Doughan 9 votes and Madam Nancy Sam who obtained 9 votes.

The election was conducted by the Effutu Municipal Electorate Officer, Mr. Anthony Oppong and supervised by some National and Central Regional executives of the party.

Addressing members of the party after the election, Mr. Lord Commey, National Organiser of the party urged supporters of the four candidates to come together and campaign vigorously for the success of the party in the December elections.

Mr. Dankwa Smith, Central Regional chairman of the party appealed to party members to intensify their campaign to win more votes for the party to retain the seat.

Mr. Opei Abbey in his acceptance speech thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work harder towards the development of the constituency.

He called for the cooperation from everybody in the party including his contestants and their supporters towards victory for the party. The contestants, in their individual speeches promised to forget about the primary and co-operate for the party to regain power.
