CAF Inspection team for Ghana next month

Accra, May 19, GNA - An inspection team of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) will visit Ghana next month to inspect facilities of the nation for the hosting of the 2008 Nations Cup.

Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, the Coordinating Director of Ghana 2008 Nations Cup Bid Committee who disclosed this to the GNA Sports on Wednesday said the inspectors are expected in the country by the middle of June but are yet to confirm their actual date of arrival.

He said the team would inspect facilities to be used for the games as well the capability of the hotels, hospitals, and other structures designated for the event to meet the requirements of CAF.

Mr Danquah said the Committee is prepared for the inspectors since all the necessary preparations and contacts have been made with the hotels as well as the renovation of all stadiums as well as the construction of new ones for the event.

On the chances of the nation in securing the bid, Mr Danquah said despite the tough opposition they will be facing from counties like Libya and South Africa they are sure of emerging winners to host the football fiesta.

Ghana in 2000 co-hosted the Nations Cup with Nigeria but is seeking to make a solitary hosting in 2008.
