Nzema East Municipal Inter-Party Dialogue Committee inaugurated

A 26-member Nzema East Municipal Inter-Party Dialogue Committee under the chairmanship of Reverend Father Paul Awuah, a representative of the Local Council of Churches, has been inaugurated at Axim.

Inaugurating the committee, Reverend James Ackah Cobbinah, the Municipal Chief Executive, advised political parties to do away with the politics of insults and focus on their manifestos during electioneering campaigning.

He said the Electoral Commission (EC) has conducted five successful general elections since the country returned to constitutional rule and would be fair in the discharge of its functions in the 2012 elections to sustain the trust of the people.

Mr Andrew Acquah, the Municipal Director of the National Commission of Civic Education (NCCE), said the formation of the committee is part of the commission's effort at ensuring a peaceful environment before, during and the after the 2012 elections.

He urged members of the committee to do their best to ensure free, fair and violence free elections and called on political parties to observe their code of conduct and desist from acts that could undermine the peace that the country is enjoying.
