The Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has condemned the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South Constituency, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, accusing him of spreading misinformation on the alleged suspicious aircraft landing at the Kotoka International Airport.

In a Facebook post on Friday, April 4, Dr Boamah called on the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee to “repent,” describing his claims as baseless and politically-motivated.

Rev Ntim Fordjour had earlier demanded a security briefing regarding two aircrafts — AirMed Flight N823AM and Cavok Air Antonov An-12B — which he alleged carried cocaine and cash into the country.

His allegations pushed President John Dramani Mahama to order a probe.

However, the Minister State in charge of Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has disclosed that Ntim Fordjour was invited to assist with investigations but failed to honour the invitation.

The government communications minister also accused the Assin South MP of fabricating the claims for political reasons and self interest.

Rev Ntim Fordjour has since denied the allegation, insisting no security agency has ever invited him for questioning and challenging the government to produce evidence of such an invitation.

Dr Omane Boamah, however, remained resolute, asserting that Fordjour’s actions stem from “hatred for President Mahama’s administration” and a desire to curry favour within his party.

“Rev Ntim Fordjour must desist from reckless allegations founded on untruths. You know you’ve lied! You also know vivid video evidence has exposed your lies about the said aircrafts. Ntim Fordjour, repent!”
