Northern Region EC registers 152,130 new voters

Tamale, Aug. 25, GNA - The Electoral Commission (EC) has registered a total of 152,130 new voters in the Northern Region during the recent limited voter registration. Out of the number 34,173 persons are without photo ID cards. Mr Sylvester Kanyi, Northern Regional Director of the EC told the their franchise.

He said the Tamale Metropolis registered the highest number of voters of 39,510, out of which 11,723 are without the photo ID cards while the East Gonja District registered 12,269 new voters. The Yendi Municipality and the Tolon/Kumbungu District registered 10,323 and 9,968 respectively, while the Nanumba North District registered 8,801 and the West Mamprusi District had 7,656. Mr Kanyi said the Karaga and the Bole Districts registered the least voters of 2,600 and 4,017 new voters respectively. The rest are Savelugu/Nanton District 7,412, Nanumba South District, 7,156, East Mamprusi District, 5,876, Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District, 5,143, Saboba/Cheriponi District, 5,907, Central Gonja, 5,842, West Gonja District, 5,563, Sawla/Tuna/Kalba District, 4,367, Zabzugu/Tatale District, 4,854 and Gushiegu District, 4,866 voters.
