Nominations for Asawase Bye-elections begin

The chairman of the Ashanti Regional Commission Mr. Yorke Aidoo has disclosed that the commission will officially give notice of the Asawase bye-election tomorrow. According to him, an intra-party committee meeting will also be held to spell out the modalities of the election to the constituents. Speaking on Kapital Radio, Mr. Aidoo said the bye-election has been slated for the 21st April this year adding that aspirants have until the 16th of this month to file their nominations. He said his outfit has also gotten in touch with the police on how best security can be provided to forestall any eventuality. The bye election has been triggered by the death of NDC Member of Parliament Dr. Adamu Gibril who died of diabetes two weeks ago at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The two main parties, the NPP and the NDC are feverishly working to win the seat which was part of the 30 newly created parliamentary constituencies.
